About Our Instructor

Joe Keller is Chief Executive Officer of Triangle Building Company, one of the most successful commercial & residential roofing and solar contractors in North Carolina. Joe is also the Principle Consultant of Average Joes Consulting, a company born from a desire to share his knowledge and experience as a leader within the construction industry.

A self-proclaimed serial entrepreneur, Joe has a passion for both starting new businesses and  working with other business owners to improve their organizations. Joe utilizes a tried and true, “belt-and-suspenders” approach that has helped him and his clients generate millions of dollars in revenue as well as countless hours of freedom from the “daily grind.”

When he’s not on the phone or at the computer working, Joe enjoys down time with his family, the occasional 18 holes on a Friday, woodworking in his shop and spending hours in the air flying as a private pilot.

Getting A License

North Carolina General Statute 87-10.2 states that licensed general contractors are required to complete 8 hours of continuing education in order to renew a license by at least one qualifier for licensees. This includes license classifications of Building, Residential and Unclassified. For the Unclassified license, it shall be the qualifier who has passed the Building examination.

The 8 hours of CS must include a mandatory, 2-hour course with information about changes in laws, rules and other content applicable to general contracting. The remaining 6 hours are divided into 2-and-4-hour elective courses. The CE year begins January 1st and ends on November 30th annually. Classes are not offered during the month of December.
